Hi, my name is Ian MacIntyre and I am the sole proprietor of Brush Strokes Painting Services.
I offer you, the customer, a High Quality Painting and Wall Covering Service, along with many other aspects of the trade, in the Kelowna and Okanagan Valley area.
About Ian:
I have been in the painting business for over 25 years now and have built up a vast knowledge of the trade in that time, working for myself, both here in Kelowna and running my own successful business back in England.
I can honestly say I enjoy my work and have always looked at each job individually, building up a friendship and trust between me and the customer.
Properties I have worked on vary enormously from a one bed apartment to a country mansion, some times spending up to four months on one project.

Ian's Qualifications :
After leaving school I was fortunate enough to be offered a three year apprenticeship with a large painting Contractor in Southampton England.
This involved spending three years at College learning all aspects of the painting trade.
We covered everything from the preparation of surfaces e.g. sanding down, filling, paint stripping, chemical etching and wire wooling working on a variety of finishes such as wood , metal, plastic, concrete, drywall to name just a few. From here we were taught to apply various types of paints to these surfaces The paints we used were water based acrylics and latexes, oil based base coats and top coats including eggshell, gloss, enamel also various stains and varnishes. These were all applied using different methods of application, everything from spray painting, roller work, brush work right through to specialist paint effects such as rag rolling, colour washing, stippling and sponging.
Wall paper hanging was a big part of our training again learning to prepare the walls properly ready to hang many different papers this would include vinyl’s, standard patterned papers, anaglypta’s, wide vinyl’s and Hessian print. Other aspects we covered were sign writing, glass etching, gold leafing, graining and marbling which would become specialized fields once leaving college.
Much of the three years training taught us the safety side of things of which there were many different aspects e.g. erecting scaffold working from ladders, building light weight towers and staging right through to the right clothing, breathing apparatus etc.
There were exams at the end of the course which I’m pleased to say I passed and still have my certificate to this day, the apprenticeship has given me a solid background in my trade and it’s helped me to run my own successful business back in the UK and now here in Kelowna.
